A site cut that's slightly out holds up the building crew and the concreters. A driveway dig-out that doesn't remove unsuitable material and replace it with properly compacted road base produces a driveway that fails within a few years - and costs significantly more to fix than preparing it correctly the first time would have. A trench at the wrong depth creates a compliance problem for the plumber or electrician. Retaining wall drainage that's skimped is the most common reason retaining walls fail on residential properties across the region.
